THE PALMORE BROTHERS, formerly with the DRIFTERS, Palmores_Duo.jpg (21626 bytes) perform a unique blend of R&B, Pop, and Classics. The name PALMORE BROTHERS has become synonymous with quality music and first rate entertainment throughout the world. After 17 years of touring with Mr. Bill Pinkney and the original DRIFTERS, Charles and John PALMORE decided it was time to bring real live music back on stage. What a thrill it is to see music played from the heart and soul! The credentials of these musicians is indeed nothing short of spectacular.

JOHN PALMORE: A student of AMOS GORDON (former musical director for the late "LOUIS ARMSTRONG". John began his musical career in High School. He went on to study at Florida A & M University
under BOBBY BREWSTER and IKE "BOSS MAN" WILLIAMS as a drummer and trombonist. After college, he hit the road with the Big
Bands of IKE WILLIAMS and later JOE GUY (husband of Billie Holiday), but he soon changed his instrument and musical direction. As a keyboardist, he has worked with JACKIE WILSON, MARY WELLS, ZZ HILL, WILSON PICKETT, JOE SIMON, PERCY SLEDGE, THE PLATTERS, to name just a few. He was the musical director, keyboardist and arranger for the original DRIFTERS.

CHARLES PALMORE: Younger brother of John, Charles also got his
start in Birmingham, Alabama with AMOS GORDON.
An accomplished bassist, he has worked with the same headliners as his brother including such Greats as LOU RAWLS, LIONEL RICHIE and BB KING. During his 17 year tour with BILL PINKNEY and the original DRIFTERS he was not only a talented and innovative bassist, but also their lead and background vocalist, with an outstandingding range of songs.

Joining the PALMORE BROTHERS on stage are two very fine musicians:
DEAN STRAYER: Dean, on drums, comes to Reno from the Polynesian Islands. He studied the Blues and Jazz in New Orleans and has performed with the BAY CITY ROLLERS, FRANKIE AVALON and FRED ASTAIRE.

JOEY LESTER: Joey, on congas and vocals, is a product of the Memphis sound. He joins the PALMORE BROTHERS with years of experience as a vocalist, percussionist and lyricist. Joe has performed with AL GREEN, THE BARKAYS, among many others.
