THE SPINNERS
THE SPINNERS are considered one of the greatest R&B groups of the 70's and 80's
and one of the most enduring of Motown's top acts.
Even though their musical roots lay in Detroit where the group formed its
original quintet, THE SPINNERS are most famous and loved for creating a body of
music which defined the unique and seductive sound known as Philly Soul.
During their early years in Detroit, the group produced its first single "What
Are
Girls Made For" featuring Bobbie Smith on vocals and the song bec
ame, a Top
Ten and R&B hit", This was followed in 1970by Stevie Wonder's "Ifs a Shame"
which became an instant international hit and launched THE SPINNERS on their
fantastic musical career.
The group signed. with Atlantic Records in the 70's and they were destined for
stardom, becoming the top most popular soul group of that decade with such
unforgettable hits as "I'll Be Around", "Could It be I'm Falling In Love", 'Rubberband
Man", just to name a few. Their albums consistently went gold and, remained on
the Top 20 Charts for long periods of time.
From their teenage years in Detroit to the present time, Henry Fambrough, Bobby
Smith and Pervis Jackson have been sharing the same stage and with recent
addition of Spike Bonhart and Charlton Washington, THE SPINNERS have performed
to the delight of fans across the world. The SPINNERS, having produced some of
the most stylish and sophisticated R&B sounds in their long and illustrious
career. They continue to dazzle audiences everywhere with their exceptional
harmonies and electrifying stage presence.
